Into the Abyss - Poem

Taken by the tide

into the abyss

I abide

Slowly slipping

from the sand

letting go

of the “knowns” hand

will I fall into the depth?

be pulled apart

by every wave

scrambling for breath?

will I let it take me into

my own deep waters

beyond the world

beyond me

beyond you

Taken by the tide

into the abyss

I abide

Letting the waters

guide me through

every challenge

I’m put into

I surrender to the tug and tow

with every beach

that is shown

learning over and over

to let go

diving deeper

into the unknown

Taken by the tide

into the abyss

I abide

The water crawls

into my eyes

to awake once more

what was once blind

to pull the vail

and let me see

the beauty of life’s

mystery

Taken by the tide

into the abyss

I abide

I am the depths

of my own waters

the tide that

pulls me apart

I am the waters

that open my eyes

the shores that

kiss the sky

I am the waves

that guide me through

the tide

that takes me to

the unknown space

in me

in you

I’ll let it be my alter

I’ll bow, prey, and sing

I’ll let reverence be my actions

and devotion be my queen

I’ll let silence be my keeper

and love be my lead

I’ll let you stand beside me

and hold you as my king

Taken by the tide

into the abyss

I abide
